Apart from conquering the world with its films, there is one other area that Nollywood is doing great. Nigeria’s fashion industry cannot stand on its own without the considerably positive influence of the film stars who dictate the fashion trend in the country.
Tacha Akhide
Take for instance Genevieve Nnaji who has so far been a major Nollywood influencer on the fashion industry. Rita Dominic is another gift to Nollywood and one of its most attractive actresses not to mention the abrasive Tontoh Dike. Then Funke Akindele, the tough talking act that effectively manipulates her beauty to great effect.
Adesua Etomi Wellington
For the purpose of this article, I googled Nollywood top ten actresses and this list popped out in the following order – Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. Mercy Johnson, Rita Dominic, Ini Edo, Tonto Dike, Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Stephanie Okereke Linus, Patience Ozokwor, Chioma Chukwuka, Adesua Etomi, Monalisa Chinda, Chika Ike, Regina Daniels, Uche Jombo, Daniela Okeke, Omoni Oboli, Nse Ikpe Etim, Oge Okoye, Liz Benson, Stella Damasus and Clarion Chukwura, Joke Silva and Dakore Akande….an endless list indeed.
IK Ogbona
The above named giants of Nollywood and Nigeria’s top notch supermodels, super divas or actresses are the real movers of Nigeria’s globally acclaimed fashion. The Arise Fashion Week is a good example of what is happening to our fashion world. It has joined us with the fashion capitals of the world – New York, London, Milan, then Lagos. Impresario and super publisher, Nduka Obaigbena deserves credit for this epochal development for sure.
Mercy Eke
I am indeed delighted with the development in the Nigerian fashion industry which has led top bankers to invest in the future of our fashion czars who are also the designers. They are the engine room of the fashion revolution who decide what we are going to wear year in year out. Just as Nollywood has become a blockbuster business hit, the fashion industry is equally engulfed in a multibillion dollar business.
Adunni Ade
Our Correspondent, Ikedi Mekz went to see the recent AMVCA and came back with stunning pictures of Nollywood fashionistas featuring Tacha Akhide in the stunning green while Adesua etomi Wellington come in a tight fitting see through.
Sharon Ooja
I K Ogbonna come in with a star studded black suit, joined by Mercy Eke and Adunni Ade in their sizzling fashion statements. Finally, there is the super dupa Sharon Ooja. She is the dazzling queen of the high stakes that turned up at the Eko Hotel, Lagos, where the extravaganza took place. The design quality was certainly top class, the finish exciting piece of art.
