In this era of Nigerian music’s renaissance, what the industry needs more than ever is unity. By the looks of it, it seems the country’s biggest musical exports are getting that message loud and clear as Davido and Wizkid seem to have squashed whatever
beef they had going on.
In a clip that recently surfaced on the internet, both artistes warmed hearts. In the viral video, Davido approached Wizkid and they both hugged each other and exchanged pleasantries for an extended period of time.
This is coming after Burna Boy announced he has settled his rift with Davido on Instagram. Burna Boy and the 30BG overlord had been at loggerheads since the beginning of 2021.
According to the self-acclaimed African giant, they have figured things out.
Burna’s words: “For your information, I have no issue with Davido. We good now.”
Burna Boy further declared love for everyone, insisting that everyone “must love each other by force” in 2022.
“Davido was trying me but we figured it out. 2022 all of us must love ourselves by force. If not make we just kill ourselves. No middle again, forward ever backward never. This is my last post of the year. God bless you all,”
Burna Boy concluded.
The reconciliation was trailed by well wishes from fans and celebrities alike. Legendary Nigerian singer 2Baba confessed on social media that their unity “puts a smile on my face”.
Rapper, Yusuf Sodiq, aka CDQ, also wrote, “I just woke up now to a video of Wizkid and Davido hugging each other. Finally, after I had suffered for years trying to balance the relationship between both (of them).
Wizkid would say (to me), ‘Your brother is hosting a show, won’t you support him’? Meanwhile, Davido would also tell me, ‘Tell your brother to bring a jam; let us work’. That was when I knew that these two love each other and they have been inspiring each other to go harder.
“Today I am the happiest person on earth, and I feel like buying cows to throw a big party. Now, both of you should give us that collaboration that the world has been waiting for in 2022.
The song arrangement should be four ‘bars’ each for Wizkid and Davido. Burna Boy would then sing the chorus. Let’s make Nigeria number one in the world.”
Despite several speculations, it was never clear what caused the tension between Wizkid and Davido, but all that is hopefully in the past now. Forward ever!
With the unfolding United front, Nigerian artistes can close whatever gaps existing among them and fight any enemy disuniting them.
It should be remembered that a top Ghanaian act recently caused a furore that Nigerian acts were not respecting their brothers in Ghana which was not true.
Such stuff won’t happen again if the Nigerians speak with one voice and counter any Foriegn aggression in future.
