The one and only Tekno Miles is on fire!
The Nigerian popstar who recently dropped a new single is clearly in the mood for music this year. His new song Jinja is a mid-tempo ear worm with a catchy rhythm that compels and caresses with lyrics that serenade a lover.
Jinja is his second official release of the year, following the release of the video for his recent single Mufasa a few weeks earlier.

Also, Tekno has completed production on his second studio album, which will be released in a few months time. The video for Jinja was released shortly after the song came out.
Tekno is no stranger to crafting melodies and cadences that stroke the senses. On Jinja (which is a stylized spelling of ginger), he professes his love for his partner and takes his time to express how much she means to him.
“Cause you dey give me ginger (seh)
You dey give me ginger (seh)
Amaka no do like Caro
Says she no dey do me like shayo
Say she dey give me ginger (seh)”
Tekno has come a long way from his humble musical beginnings and is slowly becoming a veteran of the Nigerian music industry. His first single titled Holiday was released in 2012. With featured vocals from a relatively fresh-faced Davido, Holiday was positively accepted and gained massive airplay.
That period of his career would also receive another big boost when Onye Ne Kwu, his remix of Ice Prince’s Oleku, was critically praised and loved by fans alike.

On October 5, 2013, he signed a recording contract with Made Men Music Group (MMMG), under which he released singles like Dance and Anything. These singles earned him a nomination in the Best New act of the Year category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
Tekno truly became a superstar in his own right in 2015 when he released his hit single titled Duro, which was produced by DJ Coublon. Since then, it’s been from one big achievement to the next (like signing a distribution deal with Universal Music Group Nigeria (UMGN), a division of Universal Music Group in charge of West Africa, as well as the UK-based Island Records).

His last album Old Romance was released in 2020 shortly after he was featured on Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack.
Jinja is just another step in his epic journey that has been nothing short of enthralling. Let’s hope his upcoming album will be worth the exciting wait.
