April was definitely the month of lovers in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
We got to witness Simi and Adekunle Gold celebrate their wedding anniversary in special style and we also got to blush with Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi as they got engaged in grand style (both stories were covered by Africamusiconline).
There was time for one more headline grabber in April as veteran Nollywood actress Rita Dominic got married to businessman Fidelis Anosike in Aboh, Mbaise, Imo State.

Nollywood stars, friends of the couple, kinsmen, and well-wishers were present to partake in the merriment.
The traditional wedding was held at her late father’s compound, the home of the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Marcellenus J.O Waturuocha.
They announced their engagement on April 5, and Rita held her bridal shower at the EbonyLife Place, Victoria Island, Lagos, with lots of Nollywood stars showing up.
Rita Dominic is no stranger to anyone who is familiar with Nigerian entertainment. The actress has been an A-lister for well over a decade, and she has a long string of accolades to her name.
Rita’s husband, on the other hand, is relatively new to the celebrity spotlight despite his influence and wealth. He is the Chairman, Board of Directors, Folio Group (owners of Daily Times and Miss Nigeria pageant).
The stars who turned up for the wedding included Chidi Mokeme, Uti Nwachukwu, Ini Edo, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Uche Jombo, Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha, and a host of others.
As expected, opinions and hot takes trailed the wedding. One of such takes was posted by actor Uche Maduagwu who criticized certain colleagues of Rita for not showing up at the wedding or posting congratulatory messages (which many believe was an attack on actress Genevieve Nnaji).
He posted on his Instagram page:
“Whatever you celebrate you go attract, if you wan smell marriage, attend the marriage ceremonies of others, or at least congratulate dem on social media
“Even if you no do am as colleagues, do am as sisters from the same state, even if you dey busy that you cannot be there physically, wetin e go cost you to post a congratulatory message on social media?“
The wedding also sparked the conversation of cultural norms around marriage and the notion of women being expected to marry early.
Rita Dominic, who is 46, was clearly in no hurry to rush into marriage. With her 56-year-old husband Fidelis, Rita is challenging age-old beliefs and expectations.
